We are thrilled to announce the new designation earned by one of our team members, Jonathan Dursteler. Jonathan recently completed the designation of A Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®), making him the first in Northern Utah to receive this designation.

We encourage each member of our team to pursue higher education, and training as it then translates into better care and more opportunities for our clients. This specific designation is for financial advisor professionals who want to broaden their knowledge of retirement planning and offer strategic planning opportunities to business clients. Jonathan is now certified to help businesses, and business owners make strategic decisions regarding their retirement plans.

Unlike a CFP®, a CRPS® focuses solely on businesses, and business owners where CFPs focus on individuals and families. This is one of the newest designations in the industry, and we are excited to be able to offer Jonathan’s knowledge and expertise to our many business-connected clients. Jonathan can now provide insights and strategic options for businesses that are ready to implement a retirement plan. Some of these retirement options include coordination for plans such as 401(k)s, SEP IRAs, and SIMPLE IRAs. He is trained to implement these plans on both large and small scales.

Just like the CFP® designation, a CRPS® is earned through the College of Financial Planning. The requirements to achieve it include 7 books of content knowledge. Ranging from ERISA Fiduciary Compliance & Maintenance, to Small Business strategies and Large Businesses Stock Bonus & Ownership plans. Additionally, it covers qualified and nonqualified plans, as well as private and public or governmental and nongovernmental plans, covering all Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit plans.

However, the training and education does not stop there. Each CRPS® is required to do 16 hours of continued education and renew their certification every two years. This ensures that they are up to speed on all things retirement planning and the complex offering that comes with that.

We are grateful for all the time and commitment Jonathan has put towards this, and the even greater opportunities we will now be able to offer our clients because of this training & designation. If you have questions about your company’s retirement plan options or ready to get started with a new retirement offering, schedule a meeting with Jonathan Dursteler, CRPS® by calling 435-752-1702.
