Kevin Allen, JD

Estate Planner

Kevin serves as outside legal counsel for Adams Wealth Advisors through his firm Inspire Legal and is responsible for overseeing AWA’s legal functions throughout the intermountain west.

Kevin previously served as a District Court Judge in the First District of Utah, having been appointed to the District Court by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. in 2008. While serving on the bench, Judge Allen presided over some of the most high-profile cases in Utah at the time, many of which made national news. Despite this challenging caseload, Judge Allen became known as a problem-solving judge, helping those who appeared before him to find the resources and support needed to solve their problems. Judge Allen became known as an expert in treating the mentally ill within the judicial system and has spoken nationally on the subject. He also served on the Board of District Court Judges, the governing board for all District Courts in Utah, where he served as Chairman, and was a member of the Utah Sentencing Commission and the Presiding Judge for the First District in Utah. His fellow judges also chose Judge Allen to serve on the Judicial Council, the governing entity for the entire Utah Judiciary.

Before taking the Bench, Kevin received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma, where he received many honors, primarily in trial advocacy. While in law school he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and, after graduation, served in the JAG Corps. He was first assigned to the Submarine Base, Groton, Connecticut, where he became the lead prosecutor for the Northeast Command. He then served as the Tax Officer for the European and Southwest Asia Command while living with his family in Spain. He then returned to Logan, Utah, practicing law primarily in business and estate planning matters.

Kevin and his wife have five children and a growing number of grandchildren. He spends most of his free time either skiing or traveling with his wife.
